The Resistance Museum

The Septennat Museum
Housed in the former Sainte-Claire convent, built in the 18th century, it opened its doors in 1986. It houses official or personal gifts received by the President of the Republic, François Mitterrand, as part of his duties and donated by him in the Department of Nièvre. The collection brings together the objects donated by the representatives of most of the countries of the world with which François Mitterrand maintained diplomatic relations, as well as those coming from different places in France. Often luxurious, ceremonial gifts offered by foreign heads of state are generally products of artistic craftsmanship.
The Museum of Bibcrates
The Bibracte museum, inaugurated in April 1995, is located on the slopes of Mont Beuvray. In a very contemporary architecture, the permanent exhibition offers a fascinating reading of Celtic civilization, through its oppida (fortified towns), which dotted Europe a little over 2000 years ago. Archaeological pieces lent by French or foreign museums, or copies of remarkable pieces, are compared with objects discovered in Bibracte. Many models, audiovisuals and reconstructions make the museum very attractive and allow you to dive into the heart of the daily life of our ancestors.
The Mining Museum and the Well of Glénons
Installed in the former administrative headquarters of the “Houillères”, the Museum retraces the history of coal and the life of the miners (the background, the snacks, the dramas, the leisure activities). The Museum houses objects, photographs and models deposited by former miners. You will also find the directors' office, a large plan room, a model of the city, collections of minerals and fossils, miners' lamps and the evocation of a working-class habitat.
The Puits des Glénons and its mine gallery are located on the very site of the former activity.
The Agricultural Machinery Museum
The Charolais museum of agricultural machinery in
Neuvy-Grandchamp presents a collection of more than 500 pieces, all brands combined: tractors, stationary engines, steam engines, threshers, cars, trucks and other objects of rural life.
It also houses a workshop where the restoration and maintenance of agricultural and steam engines and objects are carried out.
The Earthenware Museum of Nevers

The Costume Museum
The private mansion of the Buteau-Ravizy family, dating from the 18th century, has housed since 1992 an important set of costumes, containing some 5,000 pieces, the majority of which come from the Dardy collection acquired by the City of Château-Chinon. On an area of 1,500 m2, you can discover the various evolutions of French fashion between the end of the 18th century and the middle of the 20th century.
